Family day in Graz

What do a paper dragon and a cone have in common? How are connected the brush and the game, the story teller and the oriental dance, the bazaar with children’s clothes, the balloons and dressed up children?

All of them were part of the intercultural family feast that brought together around 550 people in the St Martin Castle. And they had fun: the offer of the feast was as colourful and diverse as are the nowadays families. The diversity enriches us and gives us the opportunity to discover our differences together!

The whole castle became the space for games and meetings. The orchestra from the Graz district Straßgang and the HIB.art.Chor provided the music input and the international dance group presented Afghan folk dances. Also the conductor Sepp Spanner presented a new CD with the Musikost Choir.

In and around the castle children and adults walked from point to point. They played, drew and danced together. They discovered a forest as a living space, listened to the stories, followed the artificial traces, learned different languages and much more. The St Martin kitchen was responsible for the culinary input of Austrian and international specialties.

In addition, the family card of creativity (Familienkreativpass) was presented and visitors received their first stamp. After visiting ten special »Urban Diversity« events and receiving ten stamps, the participants will receive a gift. What is even better: participation in all events is free of charge! With those events St. Martin supports and promotes the educational and cultural diversity of the city of Graz.
